Author Guidelines

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format, in English, double-spaced, in 12-point font.

Manuscript types and word limits (excluding abstract, references, tables and figures):
- Original Research – up to 3,500 words; structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion) up to 300 words; maximum 35 references.
- Review Articles – up to 5,000 words; unstructured abstract up to 300 words; maximum 75 references.
- Case Reports – up to 1,500 words; unstructured abstract up to 150 words; maximum 15 references; CARE checklist required.
- Short Communications – up to 2,000 words; abstract up to 200 words; maximum 20 references.
- Letters to the Editor – up to 750 words; no abstract; maximum 5 references.

Reporting guidelines: STROBE (observational studies), CONSORT (trials), PRISMA (systematic reviews), CARE (case reports), COREQ/SRQR (qualitative studies). Completed checklists must be uploaded as supplementary files.

References must follow the ICMJE/Vancouver style, numbered in order of citation.

Ethics: Studies involving human participants must state Institutional Ethics Committee approval (with reference number) in the Methods section. Clinical trials must be registered with CTRI. Patient consent statements are mandatory for case reports.

Plagiarism: All submissions are screened. Similarity above accepted thresholds will result in rejection.

Authorship must conform to ICMJE criteria. Use of generative AI tools must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgements; AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

There are no submission charges, article processing charges, or publication fees. Publication in this journal is free for all authors.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Editorials

Editorials are commissioned by the Editorial Board and present the journal's position or perspective on topics of contemporary relevance in health sciences. This section is not open to unsolicited submissions and does not undergo external peer review. Word limit: up to 1,500 words (main text), no abstract required, up to 15 references.

Original Research

This section publishes original, previously unpublished research articles reporting empirical findings across the health sciences, including observational studies, clinical trials, and laboratory investigations. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Word limit: up to 3,500 words (main text, excluding abstract, references, tables, and figure legends); structured abstract up to 250 words; up to 6 tables/figures combined; up to 40 references.

Review Articles

This section publishes comprehensive narrative reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses that critically synthesise existing evidence on a defined topic in the health sciences. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Word limit: up to 5,000 words (main text, excluding abstract, references, tables, and figure legends); abstract up to 250 words; up to 8 tables/figures combined; references unrestricted.

Case Reports

This section publishes reports of unique or instructive clinical cases that contribute to medical knowledge, including rare presentations, novel diagnostic or therapeutic approaches, and significant adverse events. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review and require evidence of patient consent. Word limit: up to 2,000 words (main text, excluding abstract and references); unstructured abstract up to 200 words; up to 4 tables/figures combined; up to 20 references.

Short Communications

This section publishes concise reports of preliminary findings, pilot studies, or focused observations that merit timely dissemination. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Word limit: up to 1,500 words (main text, excluding abstract and references); abstract up to 150 words; up to 2 tables/figures combined; up to 20 references.

Letters to the Editor

This section publishes brief correspondence responding to articles published in the journal or commenting on matters of relevance to the readership. Letters are reviewed by the Editorial Board and are not subject to external peer review. Word limit: up to 800 words (main text), no abstract required, up to 8 references.
